The founder of the brand, Philipp Plein, was born in 1978 in the German city of Munich. The designer traveled a lot as a child, and the cultures of different countries greatly influenced his final formation as a person and designer. Philipp received his law degree from the Friedrich Alexander University in Erlangen and Nuremberg.

The future designer Philipp Plein just wanted to please his dog and, instead, became a world-famous designer. An unusual start to a success story, right? Philipp Plein was engaged in economics and did not even think about a career as a designer in those early years. Then, a lucky chance allowed him to find his calling. Philipp wanted to buy a comfortable chair-bed for his beloved pet. But nowhere he could find something similar to what he had conceived in his head. And then he created such a chair himself. Philipp’s friends appreciated his talent and immediately ordered the same furniture for their pets from him. If only they had known at the time that they were buying branded things for almost a penny.

In 1998, Philipp Plein, believing in his own strength, opened a workshop to manufacture handmade furniture. A year later, the fame of the miracle master reached Hollywood. Antonio Banderas himself ordered a bed for his dog.

And a year later, Moët & Chandon commissioned Philipp Plein to design the interior of their break room for Fashion Week.

Being a passionate person, Philipp decided not to stop there and prepared pleasant gifts for the guests of the event - homemade leather bags. The public liked them so much that later they were immediately snapped up by visitors of Plein’s workshop.

After a while, Philipp Plein became a participant in the Maison & Objet exhibition in Paris. At his stand, he presented samples of furniture made of precious woods, natural leather, and velvet. But it was not only the luxurious furniture that attracted the guests of the exhibition to the Philipp Plein stand.

To draw attention to himself and stand out from the other brands, he placed a vintage parka decorated with rhinestones near the exhibition area. It was a great success and became the subject of discussion among the visitors of the exhibition. Plein realized that it was time to master the field of fashion.

A black dress with Swarovski crystals for the Barbie doll and the first children’s clothing collection

In 2009, it was Philipp Plein that the representatives of the American toy company Mattel, Inc proposed to create an outfit for the Barbie doll. Philipp dressed Barbie in a luxurious black dress with Swarovski crystals, in the tone of which a stole was thrown over the blonde’s shoulders.

In 2011, the designer presented the first children’s clothing collection – spring–summer 2012, in which the prints were images of Disney and Marvel characters.

In 2012, Philipp Plein presented the kit for the Italian football club A.S. Roma: jackets, sweatshirts, sweatshirts, coats, T-shirts, trainers, bags, and more.
